Darling Charming ~ Ever After High Doll Review

I am SO excited to finally be bringing you this review of the Ever After High REBEL Darling Charming! That’s right! Her booklet calls her a Rebel!

Darling Charming

Let’s dive into this review!

Darling Charming
Darling is a beautiful doll with light blue eyes, light blue and purple eyeshadow, and pink lips. She has a birthmark below her left eye. Her eyebrows are a dark blonde/light brown color. You’ll notice my doll’s eyes might look a little weird. To be honest, I haven’t seen a photograph of one yet that looks correct. My doll’s eyes aren’t focused on anything. One eye stares ahead while the other looks off just a bit. It drives me crazy!

Darling Charming
Darling wears a silver crown with a pink bow/feather detail. I didn’t photograph it, but if you remove that feature, the crown is not symmetrical on both sides. It has a hole where this piece was.

Darling CharmingDarling Charming
Darling’s ears are not pierced. She has this adorable face mold (which apparently makes her eyes impossible to print….)

Darling Charming
My favorite thing about Darling is her blonde and blue hair! Her magical touch is that when she moves her hair about, she can slow/stop time. I tried it out for myself, but alas, time still went at it’s normal speed. Too bad, because I could have used some extra time to get all of my to-do-list done this evening.

Darling Charming
In classic hero-style, Darling wears a silver knight’s shoulder guards. These feature little flower details and painted pink centers. I love this little feminine detail.

Darling Charming
Darling’s waist pieces is unpainted but features vine detailing along with another jewel.

Darling Charming
The chest/shoulder piece attaches in the front. The waist piece attaches in the back. Both are removable.

Darling Charming
That shoulder/chest piece just looks so awesome by itself. I wonder if it would really pop better if it wasn’t on top of another silver piece of clothing.

Darling Charming
Speaking of silver clothing…. Darling’s dress features a silver top and bottom with vine detailing barely visible. The sleeves of the dress are light blue with pink ruffles on the edges. The light blue skirting features pink and blue glitter. This piece of fabric is rather stiff. The entire dress is one piece.

Darling Charming
Darling’s shoes are adorable! They really match the ruffles with the knight details.

Darling CharmingDarling Charming
Darling’s ring and bracelet are a new style that connect the two. The ring isn’t solid all the way around the back. This new style can also be seen on the Faybelle Thorn doll.

Darling CharmingDarling Charming
Her purse is another great detail with armor plating.

Darling Charming
Darling herself is noticeably more tan than several of the girls that sit around my computer (Blondie, Apple, Raven). She is just a tad lighter than Ashlynn (and not pictured, Cerise). Think Barbie tan. This is actually a terrible photo.

To be honest, a lot of these photos were terrible! The silver of her dress and accessories was really messing with my camera. Even my photo editing software didn’t know what to do with it against the white/grey background. I totally should have done a different color background. Mental note: redo some of these photos on a black background!

Darling Charming
Two accessories I think Darling should come with are a shield and sword. What great knight goes without a shield and sword?! We took the liberty of printing a set on our 3D printer and I am in love with the look! She looks very knightly (wait, is that a word?) here.

Darling Charming
Even better, with a little rubber band, she can have them on her back!

That’s it for Darling Charming. What do you think of her doll?

For me, I’m a little disappointed. My doll’s eyes make her hard to love. Is it just me? Or do you see it too?

  1. I’m so glad there are girl characters that isn’t super girly, I’m really thinking of getting her. The only thing is I just got poppy o’hair from the TTW set… and I don’t have money to waste at the moment. You’re review really tempts me though.

  2. She’s a really great character. I just got my Darling in the mail today and I have the same ‘eye’ issue. Whenever I’m in the store hunting I go through all the dolls on the shelf to avoid something like this because it really bugs me. Downside of ordering online. Weird thing it… It just seems like her eyes are a pinch bigger than they should be. The ‘prototype/stock’ images of her have slimmer eyes…
    Great review!

  3. I can’t wait to buy her! Any chance you’d be willing to let me buy a copy of that shield and sword? I would absolutely LOVE for mine to have it too.

  4. I got the Darling Charming doll a few days ago and she was missing the ring. Any chance it is because she had a different box than usual? I t was the box that had the sunset look in the background. And I would wish you could do a Mira Shards review I have that doll to, but I love your reviews a lot I read them over and over again. Also, my Darling had really bad box hair at the bottom. Please Anwer me fast….!
