Ever After High Birthday Ball Review

A friend of mine posted the DPCI for the Birthday Ball dolls online (086-14-0437). Turns out, the Target on the far side of town had these in stock, so I rushed out in the rain to grab them!

Read my full review of both Cedar Wood and Rosabella Beauty in the new Birthday Bash line:
Birthday Ball
Both characters come boxed in the new pink-to-purple gradient box with the notebook paper logo. They both have a circular cut-out so that you can smell the dolls! These are $19.99 scented dolls.

Birthday Ball
How adorable is that artwork?!

Birthday Ball
According to the box, Cedar is scented like an orange pastry. I’m not great at recognizing scents, but she does smell really good. The box indicates that with the bite of one treat, you will transformed with a birthday dress that smells sugary sweet. It never indicates who the birthday ball is for….

Birthday BallBirthday Ball
Here is Cedar without the front cover to the box and then out of it. She comes with a stand, a brush, a present/purse, and her attached accessories.

Birthday Ball
Cedar wears purple eyeshadow with a silvery top shadow. She has adorable pink Cupid-style lips.

Birthday Ball
Cedar wears a bow (!!!) with the letter B on it. She does not come with earrings.

Birthday Ball
That bow is attached to her head with this folded over piece of plastic and…. a tab. Yuck!

Birthday Ball
Her hair!! OMG! This is a beautiful blend of pink and coral and tinsel. The hair is SO SOFT!! Doll hair is one of my happy-places. And this hair is JUST RIGHT!

Birthday Ball
I really tried to capture the different colors in her hair… but I think I might have failed.

Birthday Ball
Her hair is braided down the front and secured on the side (also, you can see the lack of earrings here)

Birthday Ball
Cedar wears a gold necklace with a lilac bow (MORE BOWS!!! YES!)

Birthday Ball
Her belt is a gold plastic rope with… ding ding ding!! Another bow!

Birthday Ball
The dress is all one piece. There is a pink top with light purple tulle on sleeves. The skirt has two layers, a glittery purple and a pink patterned layer.

Birthday Ball
And her shoes! More bows here! These are just adorable!

Birthday BallBirthday BallBirthday Ball
Her purse/gift is a hollow box that does not have a removable top.

Birthday Ball
Rosabella is next!

Birthday Ball
The artwork on these boxes is just amazing! It’s hard not to get disappointed that the dolls don’t look as amazing as the art.

Birthday Ball
Rosabella is scented like a sugar cookie (and it is so sweet!)

Birthday Ball
Fear not! She does come with her glasses, they are just attached to the spine of the box/book.

Birthday Ball
Rosabella comes with her stand and brush, gift box/bag, and glasses.

Birthday Ball
Rosabella wears yellow eyeshadow with brown eyeliner and bottom lashes. Is this the first time we’ve seen a brown mixed with black like this? I’m loving it!! Her lips are light pink. I am in LOVE with this doll’s faceup! Those bold brows and blonde hair remind me of me :)

Birthday Ball
Her headband is also attached with two sets of plastic pieces. It has three treats (they look like macaron cookies) and bows painted in gold on a backdrop of what looks like gems.

Birthday Ball
Her hair! I love it! It’s not as soft as Cedar’s, but I am such a sucker for a blonde doll. Especially a yellow blonde doll. Fun fact, Blondie Lockes dolls actually have two colors or yellow in their hair. This Rosabella doll’s hair perfectly matches the LIGHTER shade in a signature Blondie Locke’s hair.

Birthday Ball
Here are those elusive glasses!

Birthday Ball
And she looks adorable wearing them!

Birthday Ball
Rosabella wears a gold necklace with three charms. They each have a pink painted piece.

Birthday Ball
Her dress is all one piece. If features a plain yellow bodice with THREE pink BOWS down the front!!! The skirt has a pink rose print with pink tulle on the bottom.

Birthday Ball
Her shoes are this adorable yellow with cuffs at the ankles.

Birthday BallBirthday Ball
Her gift box with flowers opens to reveal a hollow space.

Birthday Ball
And that’s Cedar Wood and Rosabella Beauty on their way to a Birthday Ball. Other images of Blondie Lockes, C.A. Cupid, and Duchess Swan have been leaked up, but I don’t know the DPCI for those smaller boxes. I imagine my Target has those in the back, too, but they aren’t putting them out.

All-in-all I love this line. Okay, you knew I would say that. But seriously! There are bows! Fun new colors for their hair! And I love sm

  1. I checked the DCPI with my target, and they said they weren’t supposed to come out until Jan 3rd:( I may check another Target. Imagine if the Budget Dolls smell too!

  2. I want Cedar, Rosabella + Duchess from the birthday ball line. Other things: -I have a variation of Heartstruck Cupid with no hearts on her face, still looks great. -I made a big order on amazon but 3/5th of it never arrived, it’s been 3 months. They’ve said things like the order was lost, it was out of stock, and I’m supposed to get a refund for what isn’t in stock. But I’m still waiting not knowing what I’m getting from the order or what’s going to happen. I’m upset they weren’t upfront and said that they didn’t pack the order instead of making up stories. -Lastly the new eah looks ok, but the mh makes me sad. (I like shriek wrecked Draculaura, Lagoona + Catrine.) A few new mh are cute, but there’s a big lack of detail(like on the shoes) both from doll+box and that bothers me as an artist, also worried I might lose some of my favorites. (Know they’re prototypes, but so far they’ve been close to the final product + can’t ever see them in person, can only change mind in person if pic was a maybe, but no’s always no.)

    1. Ok. I now understand the amazon problem. In stock doesn’t always mean in stock. So I’ll wait for everything to arrive at the first address before they’re shipped to me. Which will cost less than having them sent in pieces. Currently nothing has arrived yet.

  3. Great review and photos! I got my Cedar earlier and my Rosabella arrived today. I was very disappointed to see that she comes with no brush or doll stand. I didn’t even know there was such a version of these two girls around! My Cedar did come with them so I really do wonder. My Rosabella is identical with yours save for the hole in the box where the stand would come out from inside the packaging. Have you heard of this version being available? I didn’t know so didn’t know to watch out. I already have enough standless dolls, and they’re so expensive to buy loose. Argh!
