Holly and Poppy O’Hair Doll Reviews

Greetings everyone! I promised you a review of the O’Hair twins when my dolls arrived and they are here!!! I am so excited! You have no idea how beautiful they are! I’m kind of in denial that such beautiful dolls are now mine! They seemed like such a far off dream and now they are on my coffee table!

Let’s get to this, then!
O'Hair Twins

I love that these characters come with little stories! I really wanted to know more about these two, so here is the bookmark stories that made me fall in love with their characters! (You might need to click on the images to enlarge)

I’ll review Holly first, since she is the first one I removed from the box.

Holly O'Hair
This is the destined daughter of Rapunzel, Holly!

Holly O'Hair
Holly has this hair-in-her-face style that works for her.

Holly O'HairHolly O'HairHolly O'Hair
Holly wears a purple crown that is attached to her head with a rubber bands. The crown has ends that look like a hair accessory.

Holly O'Hair
OMG! This hair! There is so much of it! I know several people were complaining about it’s length, but it is long enough, trust me!

Holly O'Hair
Her box hair is just crazy!

Holly O'Hair
While trying to brush her hair, I found this knot that looks like the hair wasn’t finished processing. Ugh. I hate when this happens.

Holly O'Hair
Her braid is attached to her arm in two places, at the elbow and the shoulder. Be careful taking these off, because you can ruin her braid.

Holly O'Hair
Warning: Holly’s hair gets everywhere. It isn’t that she sheds, but there is so much of it, it tends to stray off into the photo.
The purpose of this photo was to talk about Holly’s make-up! She has beautiful light blue eyes with a pink eyeshadow. Compared to her sister, this eyeshadow is subtle! Holly has a nice pink lipstick color, too!

Holly O'HairHolly O'Hair
Holly’s earrings are both hairbrushes. One has the brush back facing forward and the other has the brush bristles facing forward.

Holly O'Hair
Holly wears a golden necklace with white flowers. Her little jacket is JUST TOO CUTE! I want one!

Holly O'Hair
Holly has poofy sleeves on her jacket with a gold and black braid along the opening. Beyond the poofy is a criss-cross design that she shares with her sister.

Holly O'Hair
Holly’s belt is golden curls and waves.

Holly O'HairHolly O'Hair
Holly’s dress is one piece with the separate jacket. The dress is strapless and very soft! The top is a soft material, similar to a t-shirt material, but with golden threads embedded. The skirt is also super soft! It is not stiff and crunchy like a normal EAH dress. It is actually two layers, the visible layer and a soft purple mesh underneath.

Holly O'Hair
Holly wears two bracelets on her left (our right) hand. They are both a variation of a braid.

Holly O'Hair
Holly’s ring is a tower. BE CAREFUL! This is the first thing that went flying out of the box! In the box her hand is attached to her purse, and when you break that band, the ring is no longer secured by anything. It was very close to being lost!

Holly O'Hair
Holly wears the black fishnets that many other characters share. Her shoes are golden with white flowers. The heels are a tower and there are vines/holly/leaves all over the other parts.

Holly O'Hair
Holly’s purse is a bright pink bag with a purple design. The strap is black.

I wanted to show you just how long Holly’s hair is and just what a striking color it is. Who better to help with that than Ashlynn?

Holly O'Hair
Holly’s eyes appear much larger than Ashlynn’s. She is also more pale than Ashlynn. Notice how much more red Holly’s hair looks. I would classify them both as strawberry blonde, but Holly is definitely more strawberry.

Holly O'Hair
Holly’s hair is so much longer than Ashlynn’s.

Holly O'Hair
Another shot of the hair color difference.

And that’s Holly!

Poppy O'Hair
The second doll in the box is Poppy O’Hair, the younger sister. Poppy doesn’t have a destiny or a story, so she is free to explore life how she wants. She’s already attended Beauty school (which is different than Beast school). Her motif is all about scissors.

Poppy O'Hair
Poppy has a purple eyeshadow that is more dramatic than her sister’s. It appears as though the sisters share a tube of lipstick.

Poppy O'Hair
Poppy wears a (plastic) scarf-bow. I actually like that this is plastic. I have some of my other dolls with cloth scarves like this, and it just doesn’t look as clean.

Poppy O'Hair
Let’s talk about this hair. Poppy keeps her hair cut short (and puts the trimmings in a savings account). The doll comes out of the box with her hair cemented to her head. The gel is strong with this one! I haven’t rinsed it yet, so you could see just what you are getting fresh from the box. The cut is slanted so that the purple parts are a tad bit longer.

Poppy O'Hair
Poppy has two different earrings. On her left (our right) she has a pair of scissors with a chain attaching to an ear cuff.

Poppy O'Hair
Similar to the Thronecoming dolls, Poppy has two earring holes to accommodate this style.

Poppy O'Hair
Her other earring is just a pair of scissors.

Poppy O'HairPoppy O'Hair
Poppy wears a (plastic) scarf. I am not so impressed with this piece. Poppy is apparently very well known for her scarves, but I think this piece just covers up her cute dress.

Poppy O'HairPoppy O'Hair
Poppy’s dress is very busy. The top is a pink and black color block. She has sleeves like her sister without the poof. The visible part of the dress (when wearing the scarf) is a pink/purple background with while braiding and silver scissors. Poppy wears a black belt with braiding detail.

Poppy O'Hair
Unlike her sister, Poppy only has one bracelet. There is a purple part and a silver/chain part, but I promise, this is just one piece.

Poppy O'Hair
Poppy’s ring is a pair of scissors and it also comes unsecured. I haven’t had the same problem of it flying off, but the potential is there.

Poppy O'Hair
Poppy’s tights are black with this design down the sides! I love this little detail! It matches her sleeves, and gives the outfit this little “togetherness” that I love from these dolls!

Poppy O'Hair
Poppy’s shoes are bright pink boots with silver heels. There is a small pair of scissors slightly raised on the back of the heel, but other than that, they are very generic looking boots.

Poppy O'Hair
Poppy’s purse is black with a little silver detailing. She has three accessories included in the purse. BE CAREFUL! These are the things that Poppy has that will go flying! Those scissors have already been lost twice.

Poppy O'Hair
Poppy can hold her scissors.

Poppy O'Hair
Here are the three accessories. She has a pair of scissors, a comb, and a hair clip.

Poppy O'Hair
Poppy’s purse has compartments for her three little accessories.

Poppy O'Hair
And that is Poppy!

O'Hair Twins
The twins are adorable! I don’t have enough words to tell you how precious Holly is and how awesome Poppy is! You MUST add these to your collection. Holly has officially replaced Hat-tastic Apple as Favorite Doll #2. They are just amazing! I need a Holly #2 to take with me to work!

  1. Thanks, Raye! You always have the most in depth reviews, and this is my first close look at these two dolls. I’m so pumped to buy them now!

  2. Wow, they look a lot better here then they did in promo… I really like those shoes.
I was wondering if you were going to do a review on Dexter charming next, I really want to see him.

    1. I will be doing a review of Dexter Charming, but unfortunately my dealer only got one in, and he is (understandably) keeping that doll for his wife. I will post a full review when I get Dexter :)

  3. Thank you for your review :) The first picture of Holly took my breath away, she’s amazing! Can’t wait for her to be in the UK stores! I wasn’t sure about these two at first, but they’re a must-have now :D

  4. OMG! Theyre so pretty!

  5. The O’Hair twins’ faces are gorgeous and I love their hair, in styles and in colors. But I find their outfits really disappointing. Purple is a main color in the outfits of Raven, Maddie, and Cedar, and here we have two more dolls with largely purple outfits… plus pink, which of course is also over-represented in the line, since it’s all Briar and Cupid wear and shows up in Ashlynn and Cedar’s outfits.

Holly’s costume especially seems like a huge missed opportunity to me. Rapunzel’s story begins with a plant– she’s NAMED for it! And obviously Holly and Poppy are named for plants too. So why is there not a single leaf of green on Holly’s outfit? The only references to rapunzel the plant on her outfit are the white flowers on her necklace and shoes, but without any other plant elements, the flowers just look out of place. I love the towers on her heels, but the rest of her outfit doesn’t seem very themed at all, just braids of various types and colors with no unifying idea behind it.

I would really have loved to see Holly in green, and then Poppy could have been in orange or, if they must, purple, in order to clash with the green-themed “destiny” of Rapunzel and Holly. And in addition to scissors, why not some rope or climbing gear for Poppy to arm her to actively defy the Rapunzel destiny? Instead of that plastic lump of scarf, she could’ve had a scarf that doubles as a long rope, and crampon spikes on her boots for climbing.

The dolls themselves are beautiful. I just wish I felt like their outfits measured up.

  6. Hi, I’m new to your website but I really like it, so when you get your Thronecoming Briar doll, can you make a skin comparison between her and the Basic/Fairest/Legacy/Hat-tastic dolls?

  7. I thought the Holly and Poppy dolls were among my least favorites until I read this and saw the pictures you took. Holly’s doll especially is absolutely beautiful! The belt, skirt, and shoes definitely make the look. As for Poppy, I probably wouldn’t want her if she didn’t come with Holly, but I do adore her earrings, bag, and scarf. They make a lovely set!!
