Mia and Me ~ Doll Review ~ Mia

Have you heard of this show, called Mia and Me? It’s a TV show (that has been airing in Europe, but is scheduled to air in the US this April) about a young girl that travels to a magical land with winged elves, pans, unicorns, dragons, and more. Mia transforms and can talk to unicorns! You can read more about it on Wikipedia.

The Mia dolls and toy horses/unicorns are available in the European markets. A great friend helped me get one and she is adorable!

Mia and Me
Mia comes in this slim box with a full window. Her animation art appears on the bottom left corner. I actually like her doll better than her art.

Mia and Me
The box shows how her wings are movable and that there is a ring for you! I have no idea how many languages are represented here, or what any of them are, but it is always interesting to see things that you don’t understand, like what is NEKED!

Mia and Me
The back of the box shows the four unicorn toys that are available, but my friend didn’t find any of them. That’s okay, because they look like shipping wouldn’t have been fun on that. They are beautiful, though, and I hope this line makes it to the U.S.

Mia comes out of the box with her wings attached to each other and to her arms. She is adorable!

Mia and Me
The cute little butterfly/fairy ring that is for you! It doesn’t fit beyond my first knuckle on my little finger.

Mia and Me
Mia’s shoes are molded on her feet, as well as her tights. She has a slight tip-toe, even though there is no heel on her shoes.

Her strapless dress is one piece and mirrors the design of the shoes. It is nicely constructed, with a velcro-closure in the back. The stitching is very nice, with few loose threads. The bottom isn’t hemmed, but the solid border makes it feel finished.

Mia has an adorable face with a little freckle under her eye. She has six different bobbles in her hair and a winged hair accessory. Her pink hair is styled in pigtails and is very well-rooted. I later took her hair down, and it works well in either style. She has cute purple eyes and wears minimal make-up.

The best thing about Mia are those wings. They are ball jointed and fully posable! She can strike a cute pose with her arms and her wings!

Mia and Me
Speaking of posable, Mia has five points of articulation, not counting her wings.

Mia can do front-back splits very well, but her side splits leave something to be desired.

Mia and Me
She has molded pink panties with concentric circles. She is made in China and copyrighted in 2013. You can also see some of the detail on the wing attachments here. I couldn’t remove them, and I didn’t want to force them and break her.

Mia and Me
Mia wears a bracelet and a fairy ring, just like the one that was made for you. I don’t know much about the Mia and Me story, but I’m wondering if this ring is important? The ring isn’t made to be removable.

Mia and MeMia and MeMia and Me
Mia is much smaller than I had originally thought. She is smaller than the Monster High doll Howleen! She stands around 9 inches tall and her wings extend more than an inch above that. She is much smaller than the regular sized Ever After High doll, Blondie Lockes.

Mia and MeMia and Me
Mia’s dress is too large for Howleen in the top and fits Blondie fairly well. It is a little short on Blondie, but not enough to be very embarrassing for her.

Overall, Mia is an extremely well-made doll! I am very happy to add her to my collection! Her hair is very soft, her wings are such a joy, and she is just so cute! I am thrilled to have her! I don’t really understand the tip-toed shoes with no heel, but the overall effect still works. I think Mia would be a great addition to any collection, either a child’s or a crazed adult, like me. You can be sure I’ll be taking many more photos of this cutie with her posable wings!

  1. I’m so happy to hear Mia arrived safe and you like her! ^^
I loved your thorough review of her, and it was so exciting to see her finally out of box. She seems to be a well-made doll, which makes me relieved, as her price was on the cheaper side compared to other doll lines on the shelves here.

NEKED is something I can help you with, as it is exactly the Hungarian phrase ;) “Egy gyűrű – NEKED” means “One ring – FOR YOU”, but I have absolutely no idea why “for you” is written in capitals (especially because none of the other languages seem to follow this), and it gave me a good 5-mins-laugh just now, as I realised what the first thought of someone whose mother tongue is English might be when seeing this word XD
Most of the others seem to be Slavonic languages, which I am not really good in, but I just asked hubby and he said the first one should be Polish, one of the two in cyrillic letters should be Russian, and the one after the second cyrillic is Romanian. The rest might be Croatian, Serbian – but these are only guesses. Now that I think of it, it’s strange how area-specific the languages are, and there are no languages present from the more Western or Northern sides of the continent.

Mia looks much prettier out of box! I love the shades of pink in her hair, and it’s a good thing that her hair ir rooted in a two-pigtail-style, because it is such a cute way of styling dolly hair, but if you don’t have it rooted like this styling a doll’s hair this way is so hard because of the bald patches it reveals.
I didn’t even notice the cute matching ring she wears! :O knowing her size it must be so tiny :3 I love her size by the way – it surprised me at first, but it adds a lot to her. It’s funny how other, otherwise small dolls like Howleen look almost enormous next to her XD

  2. would absolutely love one of these for my neice; not a lot of little girls know about the show but she was instantly obsessed. cant wait for the usa to get them, if we get them.

  3. I live in North Carolina in the US…. My daughter is in love with Mia ad Me and is wanting these dolls very badly and we cant find them anywhere.Where do you find these dolls? Where can I buy them? Someone please help!
