Thronecoming Cupid doll review

I have several friends that are looking forward to Cupid next, so I thought I’d go ahead and review her, just for you guys :)
Thronecoming Cupid

Cupid is such a beautiful doll! These Thronecoming dolls are crazy detailed!

Thronecoming Cupid
Cupid’s box features her art on the spine, updated with her Thronecoming look.

Thronecoming Cupid
Cupid really takes the reflecting on my past and where I come from part very seriously!

Cupid’s bookmark talks about all of the different elements of her outfit (her earrings, her purse, her sandals) remind her of home.

Thronecoming Cupid
The very first thing I noticed about Cupid was that her face is COVERED in gunk. It had collected dust/dirt and she was not attractive looking. This is what she looked like after a little wipe down. (still covered in gunk, though)

Thronecoming Cupid
Cupid has little heart details all along her face. She is too precious!

Thronecoming Cupid
If you are a one-doll-per-character collector, I recommend Thronecoming Cupid over Signature Cupid. Those straight bangs are super cute! And you can never go wrong with a high ponytail.

Cupid’s earrings are these adorable wings! They are from her cousin, Hermes. They have two posts to keep them from spinning. Her ears are double-pierced to accommodate them.

Thronecoming Cupid
I want to get to Cupid’s wings, but first let me tell you about these two strands of hair. The doll comes with them rubberbanded to her arms at the elbow. DO NOT attempt to pull them through the rubber band. Cut that rubber band! The strand on my left (the doll’s right) was pulled through and lost most of its curl in the process. The strand on my right was cut and retains this beautiful curl similar to Apple’s.

Thronecoming Cupid
The best feature of this Cupid doll is her wings. LOOK AT THESE THINGS! They attach with a necklace piece, like signature Cupid. The back features a heart shape! I just don’t have words to describe how amazing these things are!

Thronecoming Cupid
Cupid’s dress has little black straps. Her top is a pink with gold designs and a black mesh overlay on her bust.

Thronecoming Cupid
The skirt is four layers. The top is a black mesh with pink dots and hearts. Under this is a pink sheer layer with pink glitter. The sheer layer with the frills is cut and lays directly on top of a very light pink (almost white) plain layer.

Thronecoming Cupid
Cupid has the BEST gladiator sandals I’ve ever seen. Look at them!

Cupid’s dress features a bottom piece, probably because the front is so open. I thought this was a little strange at first, but it adds an interesting piece to her dress. It also does not hinder her ability to sit in the new style stands.

Thronecoming Cupid
Cupid wears pink roses as her corsage.

Thronecoming Cupid
The handle on Cupid’s mask has wings! I go back and forth between preferring the wings and preferring the bows.

Thronecoming Cupid
Cupid’s mask is inspired by the pegasus. Once you know that, it is much easier to identify the little horses at the top. Her purse is also personally inspired by a family member, this time her uncle, Apollo.

Thronecoming Cupid
I can’t get their masks to sit correctly for photos. They work well for playtime, but alas, they will not sit there for a photo.

Thronecoming Cupid
And that is Cupid! She is so beautiful! I need those earrings for myself! And her wings!

Many people know Cupid is my base doll for my custom character, Phoebe Nix, and a few people have asked me if Phoebe will get an updated look. While I really want to make another Phoebe doll, I do not know how I could possibly rip out her hair and change this doll. Maybe Phoebe just needs these wings.

If you have to choose between Signature Cupid and Thronecoming Cupid, pickup Thronecoming Cupid in a heartbeat! This doll will help Cupid win votes in the contest more-so than anything that happens in the webisodes!

Still #TeamBlondie, though.

  1. Aghhh! I knew I’d never be able to resist her, but now I know FOR SURE that I’m going to be desperately seeking Thronecoming Cupid! I wonder if the pegasus detailing means that we now know what her pet will be?

  2. Qupid is awesome!! Very pretty.. but i think i still like basic more.. But not sure tho.. want them all :)
do you know by any chance where can vote for Thronecoming queen?

Want her to be Thronecoming queen :) so need to vote

    1. Voting hasn’t been posted, yet. I imagine it will be closer to late summer/early fall when they do. I got these dolls early, but they should be hitting the market around June/July (purely guessing).

  3. Oh I absolutely have to have her! She’s gorgeous!! And I love how her outfit has pieces of her family in it!! It makes me appreciate the different pieces she’s wearing even more!

  4. Is it just me, or do the flowers on Thronecoming Cupid’s corsage kind of look like the flowers on Getting Fairest Briar’s slippers? I’m not saying that that’s bad, but I just see a similarity.

  5. My favorite part about Cupid’s dolls has to be the little heart highlight in her eyes, and her lipstick. Particularly because the animators of the webisodes so often seem to forget that her eyes have those heart-shaped highlights, so it’s nice to see that the dollmakers do. But Cupid’s fabulous overall, especially here.
